In San Francisco de la Sierra the dental clinic is set up in the dining room of a small tourist hostel.
Dental technicians Sergio Ruelas and Antonio Flores are making partial dentures.
Family Physician, Dr. Enrique Collada who practices in Tijuana, examines a patient.
Optometrist, Dr. Danny Garrido who practices in Tijuana, checks a patient's eyesight.
Many of the people living in the Sierra de San Francisco are descendants of the soldiers, ranch hands, and craftsmen who first arrived on the peninsula with Jesuit missionaries in the 18th century. Hence they are referred to as true "Californios."
Some patients arrive on mules from isolated ranches.
